We go to Bodega Finca Montepedroso in Rueda and Arevalo on Saturday May 2.

This winery belongs to the Martínez Bujanda Group. This group has different wineries in different locations. The wineries are the following: Finca Valpiedra, Viña Bujanda, Finca Antigua, Cocheros y Criadores and the most recent project which is the winery we are going to visit.

These wineries are very different among each other but they have something in common: that is making high quality wines from owned vineyards located in priviledged locations. They have 25 hectares of vineyards at 750 m high. Familia Martínez Bujanda elaborates one white wine with verdejo grape, that complements very well the range of wines of the group.

For this new project, the technical manager and winemaker, Lauren Rosillo, with a broad experience, went to South Africa and New Zealand to make wines and learn form the most prestigious areas in making white wine in the world.

There, we will taste 3 of their wines. One white verdejo, one red wine from La Mancha (Finca Antigua) and one red wine from Rioja (Finca Valpiedra).

From there we will go to have tapas and wines to one of the towns with more personality on the area, Arévalo.

In Arevalo there is an impressive castle, with an even more impressive story behind. Among other things Elisabeth the Catholic (Isabel la Católica), lived in there for many years.

We will visit its castle, its streets and some of its churches. And we will find a moment in which to do a toast to the sun with one good wine.
