The winery we visit is one that does not leave you the same, with stunning caves. We refer to Bodegas Ismael Arroyo. On this winery you can understand the past, the present and the future of the wine of Ribera del Duero. You can see how pretty this winery can be if you look at this video.
5 centuries ago the only way to preserve wine for the whole year was to dig on the earth. You could get in the underground the right temperature, humidity, and light that allowed wine to be in perfect conditions. The problem was the cost of moving wine. That times were really hard. Living was not an easy task,
The sixties came and every wine maker had to take the decision to go on elaborating wine with the news techniques and rules of modern times or leaving the village to work in the big town.
Most of wine makers decided to leave. And the few that stayed added these caves to their patrimony. To look at that final result is a true priviledge.
On the Winebus we say that we wait to listen to the story that is behind before we drink. Because doing so wine does not taste the same. I can testify that the wines of Ismael Arroyo are amazing. Then you visit its caves you have more respect for their wines.
This is what we are going to do on the first part of the tour.
From there we will go to Peñafiel to a restaurant to have lunch.
We will then go to Aranda de Duero to visit its underground caves. From there we will gp back to Madrid after having done many, many things.
