Wine fair in Ribera del Duero
Wine fair in Sotillo de la Ribera

On Sunday 9 we go to the second wine fair of Sotillo de la Ribera.

On the Winebus we are making wine tours since a long time. And also from a long time ago we are looking for activities that can be attractive for our clients. And we have the luck to enjoy with the same activities that our clients enjoy like for example a wine fair.

This sunday there is going to be a very special activity in Sotillo de la Ribera. Sotillo de la Ribera is one of the most traditional villages of the whole ribera del Duero. When you visit this place you can see how they were making wine 5 centuries ago.

There, in a very appealing way you can understand how the people in the area 5 centuries ago they were using underground caves in order to keep the wine in good condition for the whole year in a time that aging wines in barrels was not yet invented.

Sotillo de la Ribera has a huge tradition. 200 hundred years ago there were in such small village 200 producers that were makimg 2 MM kgs of grapes.

This Sunday they commemorate the second edition of the Wine Fair that was a big success last year with 800 visitors.

We have been many times in there enjoying their wines And we want to be present when the 8 wineries that now are on the village will offer us to taste their wines in the elaboration area of the XVI th century.

Having visited more than one winery in the village and having assisted to other festivities like this one in other villages we are sure that it is going to be quite an event with very appealing and authentic characteristics

After the wine fair

we will go to have lunch in Aranda de Duero in one of the best restuarants of the town. We will also visit the underground caves that there are also in the town, and the history of the town and its relationship with the wines. In Aranda there is a map of the town of 1504.

This map was made for preserving the rights of each house owner to have underneath their own underground cave. For the citizens of Aranda de Duero it was absolutely fundamental the same way as Sotillo de la Ribera

We would visit a castle that is 10 miles away where we would enjoy magnificent landscapes of the área.
